…Year after year, summer after summer, the question always remains, what is it that makes Gilboa so special? How is it that even the most reserved and seemingly apathetic chanich (camper) is brought to tears on the last day? How can it be that kids used to the perks and luxuries of private day schools and unparalleled sports camps fall in love with a place where bug bites are more common than candy bars… A common answer is 'It's the people.' …Its the interactions between people, the bond, the community… Its the reason I nearly cried when I heard an eleven year old girl say this summer, 'I love Gilboa the way [all the] kids can be a family.' …Kids with diverse, unique, and incredible personalities… that in all honesty would not be friends if they had simply met at school. In the outside world they wouldn't have even gotten the chance to get to know each other, but at Gilboa they are family.
