Year Round

Founded in 1935, Habonim Dror (the Builders of Freedom) is a Progressive Labor Zionist Youth movement whose mission is:

To build a personal bond and commitment between North American Jewish youth and the State of Israel.
To create Jewish leaders who will actualize the principles of social justice, equality, peace and coexistence in Israel and North America.

We, in Gilboa, operate Kenim (chapters) of the youth movement around California year round!

A Habonim Dror Ken is a chapter of the movement that functions year-round. The Ken provides us the ability to offer educational and social activities all year, not just in the summer. Ken activities and seminars are run by Habonim Dror leaders living in your community under the supervision and guidance of the Central Office of HDNA, the Gilboa Shaliach and the leadership of your Eizor (region). The Ken and seminars are an opportunity for year-round connection to Gilboa and Habonim Dror and to continue building relationships with your Chaverim (friends).

The first year my daughter went to Camp Gilboa she cried when she got on the bus to go. When she returned that first year and every year after, she cried getting off the bus and wanted to go "home", back to Camp Gilboa. The program emphasizes the acceptance and self worth of each camper and enables friendships within and across the age groups that create a quality of experience that can last a lifetime. Kids who may feel ostracized during the year find inclusion and acceptance at Camp Gilboa and all campers can benefit and grow in ways that contribute to their self-esteem, creativity, and appreciation of the world around them.
