Fall Work Weekend Registration is OPEN!

Hello Gilboa!

We are so excited to announce that registration for Gilboa Work Weekend is open! We hope you will join us up at camp in Big Bear in just under a month.

Work Weekend will begin the morning of Saturday October 14th and end October 15th.

If you are a prospective Gilboa family and want to come for an Open House tour on Saturday October 14th, you don't need to fill out this registration form. RSVP here instead!

Who’s invited?

Work Weekend (Saturday October 14th-Sunday October 15th): Alumni, tzevet, board members, volunteers, and veteran families are invited to spend the weekend getting camp ready for summer! It has been a tough winter and there will be plenty of repair and clean up to do around camp.

Ken tzevet and madatz (9th grade and older) are invited to attend Ken Chalutz. Ken chalutz sessions will be integrated throughout the weekend - we'll spend our time together getting the ball rolling for year round ken events and seminars!

While there will be kid-friendly projects, there will not be child care throughout the weekend. Only high schoolers (9th grade and up) can come without parents for the weekend. Madrichimot (counselors) will be responsible for high schooler supervision and safety.

If you are a prospective Gilboa family and want to come for an Open House tour on Saturday October 14th, you don't need to fill out this registration form. RSVP here instead!

Housing & Facilities: Space at Camp Gilboa is limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and assigned by camp staff. The options are cabins or a room in the lodge.
  • The campsite was recently renovated, yet designed to be rustic in nature. The cabins do not have electricity and are lit by solar lanterns. The main lodge has a lounge, a kitchen, and other facilities that all are welcome to use.

  • Note that if you are only one adult, you may be assigned to a shared room with someone of the same gender.

General Seder Yom (Schedule):

Arrive Saturday morning and be ready to work! We will be providing meals, snacks, and housing for work weekend volunteers starting with Saturday lunch:

  • Saturday morning arrival and check in

  • First meal we'll serve altogether is Saturday lunch

  • Saturday day we'll do work all day

  • Saturday night we'll have havdallah and a medurah (bonfire)

  • Sunday we will continue work projects until lunch

  • Wrap up will be by mid-afternoon Sunday

All meals and snacks served during Work Weekend will be vegetarian.

Cost

We ask that work weekend volunteers consider a donation of $36-$180 per person to offset the costs if you are able.

Covid Safety

All participants must show proof of a negative rapid test from the morning of arrival. It is families’ responsibility to obtain their own tests. While we wish that we could control every possible risk, and while we will use our best efforts to keep your family safe from the Covid-19 virus, we cannot promise or guarantee that this or any other pathogen will not enter the camp. By registering for family camp, you acknowledge that you understand this risk.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Rebecca or Alison or give us a call at 323-653-6772.

We’re so excited to get back to camp with the community - we hope you can join us!
