Welcome to the Gilboa Blog!
We update this blog to keep the community in the know of what's been going on. We post at least 2 times per week while summer camp is in session. We will have weekly posts by campers, lots of pictures, and descriptions of the various special days and programs that happen in a session.

End of Summer 2026!
Through many hugs and tears, we had to say goodbye to Gilboa 2026. We've had an amazing summer of bonding, learning, leading, dancing, cheering, laughing, growing, being silly, and SO much more. The summer may be over, but the memories (and photos!) never go away. We already can't wait for next summer! 2027 registration is open for returning families and we're offering an early-early bird discount of $150! CLICK HERE to register!

Last Shabbat of the Summer!
On a typical Friday, we begin Shabbat by joining together at a special Hitkansut where we take pictures in our Shabbat clothes (see if you can spot all the siblings), sing songs, and break into Mishapachot (family) groups based on where we're from. From our Mishpachot groups, we hold hands and walk to the dam as we sing "Sim Shalom" and "Don't Walk in Front of Me." At the dam, we sit in a big circle and listen to a kvutza (age group) sing a song and the Rosh tell a story. We

REVO Recap!
On Wednesday, the Madatz (CITs) took over Gilboa for REVO, or in this case, gREVO (Grinch REVO)! REVO (short for Revolution) is a special day in which the Madatz kvutza (age group) takes over camp for the day and gets to put everything they learned over the past 4 weeks into action. Chanichim (campers) slept in before being woken up by the residents of Whoville and invited to celebrate Christmas. We ate themed meals, sang carols, decorated cookies, learned a new rikkud (dance

Nitsanimot and MBLA Spotlights!
Nitsanimot (Taste of Camp) Spotlight: We started off the week with zman kvutzah (age group time) where we completed activities like finding similarities about each other to earn ingredients to make ice cream sundaes. On the first full day, we went kayaking and did a world cup themed tochnit erev (evening activity) where everyone was assigned to a different country. We also went stargazing at night in the meadow. For shabbat, we learned the prayers and then got to lead the cam

Meet our New Assistant Director of Outreach and Communications, Sarah!
Hello! My name is Sarah Podsiadlo (she/her) and I cannot express how excited I am to be joining the team at Machaneh Gilboa. I grew up in rural Montana and spent my childhood wandering the forests, eating wild berries, making elaborate tree forts, and trying to avoid being chased by angry mother bears and moose. I am delighted at this chance to be back in nature. Over the past decade of my career, I have been dedicated to empowering youth. I started my career as a preschool r

A Message from the Executive Director
Shalom, Gilboa community! Becoming the Executive Director of Machaneh Gilboa feels like a full-circle moment for me — a chance to bring together my lifelong love of summer camp with my ongoing commitment to building a radically just society for all peoples. As someone with a Catholic mother and a Jewish father, I spent much of my life feeling like I didn't quite fit in Jewish communal spaces. That changed the moment I became a counselor at an inclusive Jewish summer camp. For

Bocoup Recap and Shabbat Photos!
On Wednesday, instead of heading to a normal lunch, the Bogrim welcomed the rest of the chanichimot (campers) into a new, medieval world for their Bocoup. Bocoup is a special tradition where the Bogrim (10th graders) take over camp for half the day. They plan the theme, all of the programs, the decorations, and all logistics. It's a milestone that many chanichim really look forward to! Take a look at Maggie's reflections on the day and some photos! Shabbat Photos!
