REVO Recap!

On Wednesday, the Madatz (CITs) took over Gilboa for REVO, or in this case, gREVO (Grinch REVO)! REVO (short for Revolution) is a special day in which the Madatz kvutza (age group) takes over camp for the day and gets to put everything they learned over the past 4 weeks into action.

Chanichim (campers) slept in before being woken up by the residents of Whoville and invited to celebrate Christmas. We ate themed meals, sang carols, decorated cookies, learned a new rikkud (dance), played capture the present, and had a mock trial for the Grinch (realizing that he’s not a bad guy, he just wanted to save them from the consumerism of Christmas and introduce them to the fun of Hanukkah). A Jewish Christmas Eve dinner was followed by Hanukkah activities: dreidel playing, Maccabee fighting, and candle lighting.

REVO is not just a day to have fun and bond as a Machaneh (camp). It is also a vital

part of the leadership process for Madatz. The Madatz work for weeks coming up with a theme, brainstorming activities, coordinating logistics, writing scripts, and decorating camp. They truly take over camp and dive deep into the organizational and cooperative skills needed to run engaging, safe, and educational programming.
