Revo Recap!

Hi Gilboa Families,

The Madatz (counselors in training) have a tradition every summer where they take over camp for the day--Revo (short for 'revolution'). As a youth led organization, we take pride in developing leadership skills and empowering our oldest chanichimot (campers) to plan and lead activities for the rest of machaneh (camp). Each Revo has a theme, this year's was Avatar. At hitkansut (flag raising), chanichimot were introduced to Aang, the Avatar, who let them know that the tzevet were ACTUALLY fire-nation spies, and they had to leave ASAP! After "kicking-out" (don't worry, they were hiding close by!) the tzevet, it was time for breakfast!

Chanichimot were surprised with a carnival to celebrate getting rid of the spies! The carnival featured fan making, 'guess the thing', tea drinking, and more. Post-celebrations, it was time to learn a little bit more about the Earth Kingdom. Chanichimot could choose to either learn earthbending, make flower crowns, play 'earth disc' (aka ultimate frisbee), or go for a long walk.

After a quick snack, it was time to break out into groups based on element, have a few rounds of ice breakers, then head into a round robin before lunch. But...OH NO! Turns out Aang was kidnapped?! Chanichimot needed to go on a scavenger hunt to get Aang back from the Fire Nation! PHEW! That was a close one...they found Aang thanks to their quick wit, and to celebrate, learned a new dance!

Thanks to their new moves, chanichimot were ready to take it up a notch and try some 'formal' bending training. Think: wrestling for candy, team waterbending, etc. After training their bodies, it was time to train their minds with pish (educational activites). Chanichimot split up to discuss topics like imperialism and nationalism before heading to dinner.

Digesting with a little bit of chofesh (free time), the big battle begun. Chanichimot infiltrated the fire nation by playing zap, going through mazes, blindfold walks, and finished the night at the medurah pit (fire pit) for the final showdown! Luckily, the fire nation was defeated and freedom was re-issued to the world! We finished Revo with a snack and a short dance party before saying goodnight. Great job, Madatz!!!
