Shabbat Shalom, Gilboa Community!

We're getting into the swing of second session with Shabbat--and this week the Bonimot (rising 9th graders) shared a few highlights from recent days at Gilboa!

And here are some photos from the first Shabbat of second session! Some highlights included:

• Extended Avodah (work block) to tidy up camp.

• Jewce: experiential educational block centered around the weekly Torah portion, accompanied by juice of course!

• Shabbat rotations: braiding challah, learning prayers, blogging, learning songs...

• Tzrif (cabin) cleaning

After all of that, we met for hitkansuit (flag lowering) and sang songs together before heading to mishpachot (family time). Mishpachot is a weekly gathering where chanichimot (campers) who live in similar places or attend the same synagogue check in about their week, often in a 'rose bud thorn' structure. Next, we walked down to the dam to watch the sunset and listen to a Rosh (youth camp director) story before a little more singing, and finally Shabbat dinner! Everyone's favorite! After dinner and a little chofesh (free time) we ended our night with some dancing and watermelon.
