Shabbat Shalom, Gilboa Community!
We're getting into the swing of second session with Shabbat--and this week the Bonimot (rising 9th graders) shared a few highlights from recent days at Gilboa!
Check them out below, click to enlarge.
And here are some photos from the first Shabbat of second session! Some highlights included:
Extended Avodah (work block) to tidy up camp.
Jewce: experiential educational block centered around the weekly Torah portion, accompanied by juice of course!
Shabbat rotations: braiding challah, learning prayers, blogging, learning songs...
Tzrif (cabin) cleaning
After all of that, we met for hitkansuit (flag lowering) and sang songs together before heading to mishpachot (family time). Mishpachot is a weekly gathering where chanichimot (campers) who live in similar places or attend the same synagogue check in about their week, often in a 'rose bud thorn' structure. Next, we walked down to the dam to watch the sunset and listen to a Rosh (youth camp director) story before a little more singing, and finally Shabbat dinner! Everyone's favorite! After dinner and a little chofesh (free time) we ended our night with some dancing and watermelon.
We can't wait to show you more of what we get up to soon, talk to you later! Shabbat shalom!
