Virtual MBG & Madatz

June 29th - July 24th

Incoming 11th and 12th graders participating in Gilboa’s leadership development programs gain a deeper understanding about themselves, their community and the world. They develop key skills they’ll be using as they continue in high school and into college (and life).

They’ll think critically about society, practice planning and facilitating educational programs, improve their communication skills, and learn to design, implement, and feedback projects. They will strengthen connections with their Gilboa kvutza, engage in activism and organizing, and feel empowered. It will also be fun!

MBG

The Program

The MBG program covers 3 main components: Hadracha (leadership development), Social justice learning & action, and Kvutzah. MBG’ers will learn to plan and facilitate online programs and will have the opportunity to apply and practice by designing and implementing virtual learning and events.

The curriculum breaks down a series of systemic issues related to racism by examining three guiding questions: what upholds a particular problem, who has the power to make the necessary change, and how will we--as Jewish youth--take action? MBG’ers will take on a project and engage with local organizers and legislatures. MBG’ers will also delve into community care models and learn from kibbutz history as they discuss intentional, collective living. They will delve into the Jewish wisdom behind the value of rest, share tools that pull us out of apathy and into action, and facilitate activities for their kvutzah.

Madatz

Madatz will develop a critical understanding of social justice issues with a focus on how they, as Jewish youth, can take direct action.
