Dear Gilboa Community,
It is bittersweet to share that I will be stepping down as Executive Director of Camp Gilboa. I have loved serving this community and am so proud of what we have built together. I am excited for my next chapter, joining a mayoral campaign and stepping into a new arena of public service, but leaving Gilboa is not easy.
These past few years have been deeply meaningful. I am constantly inspired by the way this camp nurtures passionate, thoughtful, and values-driven young people. Watching chanichimot grow into madrichimot and leaders has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. Gilboa shapes leaders, builds lifelong friendships, and strengthens a vibrant community across generations.
Even during complex and political and emotional times, Gilboa has continued to lead with care, integrity, and courage. I am proud of the way this community creates space for dialogue, joy, growth, and deep connection.
Most of all, I will miss the people. Our extraordinary tzevet, dedicated board, supportive families, and alumni make this place truly special. Thank you for the opportunity to serve this incredible community. I look forward to staying connected and cheering Gilboa on as it continues to grow and thrive.
With gratitude,
Rebecca

The Board is excited to share that Michael Auerbach will be joining Camp Gilboa as our next Executive Director.
Michael brings a deep commitment to youth empowerment, community building, and values-driven leadership. Most recently, he served as Director of Repair the World in Los Angeles, mobilizing young adults around service and helping cultivate meaningful, engaged communities. He previously spent six years as Executive Director of Kinful, a K-to-12 social-emotional learning and intercultural exchange program connecting students in the United States with peers around the world. His professional journey began in the Peace Corps as a Girls Education and Empowerment Volunteer in Mauritania and has included leadership roles focused on advancing educational equity.
What excites Michael most about Gilboa is mentoring youth and being fully present with them. He is passionate about building authentic relationships with chanichimot and tzevet, supporting their growth, and creating spaces where young people feel confident, capable, and inspired. He is especially looking forward to spending the summer outdoors, playing, laughing, and sharing in the joy that makes camp so special.
We are incredibly grateful to Rebecca for her leadership and steady presence, and we are thrilled to welcome Michael into this next chapter of Gilboa’s story. Rebecca and Michael will be working closely together to ensure a smooth transition.
Camp Gilboa remains strong and vibrant because of this extraordinary community.
With appreciation and excitement for what is ahead,
The Camp Gilboa Board
