Meet Gilboa Leadership 2025!

Good Afternoon Gilboa Community,

We’re excited to introduce the leadership team for summer 2025—a group of madrichimot (counselors) who bring so much heart, talent, and intention to machaneh (camp). These are the people who will be shaping this summer's experience, guiding meaningful conversations, planning unforgettable moments, and helping create a space where every camper feels seen, supported, and inspired!

Do YOU want to get a taste of what that feels like, while learning about Habonim Dror North America's new pillar "Collective Liberation of the Peoples in Israel-Palestine" (CLPIP) and experiencing a camp-style peula (educational activity)? Join us this Sunday on Zoom at 4pm PT for a community-wide peula! Register here - we hope to see you there.

Here’s a quick hello from each of this year's amazing leadership team:

Reese, Tochniot (Director of Programs):

Hello, I’m Reese! I’m a Computer Science and Physics student at Sacramento State University. I’m really passionate about technology and creativity, and often find myself working on little projects and gadgets that combine the two. Something else about me is that I’m known to be quite humorous. For a quick example of the aforementioned humor, please visit the following link: https://sites.google.com/view/humorousjoke/home

I’ve been coming to Gilboa for eight years, and I’ve loved every one of them. This summer, my role is Tochniot. That means I’m in charge of a lot of the planning preceding certain events and activities. It is also my job to facilitate other Tzevet (counselors) in planning their own activities for the kids. I would say that’s what I’m most excited for this summer is getting to create some crazy creative fun experiences, and helping others to do the same :D

Gigi, Chinuch (Director of Education):

Hi Gilboa! My name is Gigi and I’m originally from LA where I spent my high school years at Milken Community School. Although this will be my first summer at Gilboa, I grew up at Camp Alonim. I am so excited to connect with this community and dive into pressing and relevant chinuch (education) that impacts many of us today. Currently I’m a Senior at the Gallatin school of individualized study at NYU. Can’t wait to meet you all soon :)

Maya Mcduffie, Rosh Mitbach (Head of Kitchen):

This is my third summer at Gilboa, and I’ve loved working in the Mitbach and making fun food that gets people excited! Currently, I’m on a semester abroad, studying emerging

media and design in Berlin. I’m having fun and learning a lot but I am looking forward to return to America and cook in the woods alllll summmmerrrr!

Shosh, Techni (Technical Director):

Hey it’s me Shosh. What’s up. Oh nothing much thanks for asking. I am the most excited out of everyone for this summer. If I had to guess, it’s because I love and miss camp. I love the woods and the memories that last forever. I am a junior at NYU (Go Violets!) where I study economics but currently I’m studying abroad in Florence, or Firenze they say in Italía. I love camp❤️ Can’t wait to see you all there!

Arlo, Techni (Technical Director):

Hey I am Arlo, I’m from Ventura CA. Currently I’m finishing up my degree and working as a substitute teacher! I’m really excited to be back at camp this summer. Truthfully, the thing I’m most excited about for the summer is to be back with the Gilboa community!

Marcella, Melovah (Director of Camper Wellbeing):

Hiiii I’m Marcella and I’m your Melovah for summer 2025! I’m from Encinitas, CA and I’m currently a double major studying dance and history at the University of California Los Angeles. I am so so excited to return to Gilboa this summer and can’t wait to have lots of fun with everyone!

Roxy, Rosh (Camp Director):

Hi my wonderful community, I am looking forward to another summer with you so hard that my eyes are going to fall out of my head. I live in New York City now (with so many of your other madrichim and Gilboa alums!). l feel honored to be a part of building kvutza (age group/ community) for the chanichimot (campers) at camp. One thing that I’ll never find here in New York is the exquisite nature that is the San Bernardino forest. I thrive with balance, and I’m craving some Jeffery Pine air already. I can’t wait for shira (singing),  kumzitz (singing by the fire really cozily) and rikkud (dancing). I can’t wait to be inspired and challenged by machaneh gadol (everyone at camp) every day. I’m so grateful and proud to be a part of Gilboa with all of you. See you soon, but never soon enough!
